What Truly “Wealthy” People Know About Money

March 13, 2010 by Kate Larsen Leave a Comment

In the deepest sense money isn’t real. It’s true. Intrinsically it has no real value. It’s just a fancy piece of paper. If you were to take our money to an alien world what could you use it for? Money is simply a mutually agreed upon token we use to exchange for things that provide REAL VALUE to us like food, community, comfort and shelter. It is the thing we buy with money or the thing people buy from us that has actual value.

It’s Not Your Imagination; Change IS Hard

It’s Not Your Imagination; Change IS Hard

There are four consistent things in life. You’ve heard of them; birth, death, taxes and change. The truth is, day-to-day everything I do is tied to helping and encouraging people to change. With the caveat, to make change that is sustainable. In all likelihood, you’ve got the same challenge. I am an avid reader, and realize not everybody gets as jazzed about new books as I do. However, I think I’ve found a winner that you will love.

Watch How You Spend Your Time

I had coffee with a friend this morning who shared the agonizing difficulties in staying with a job that used to bring joy and now only brings frustration and disappointment. She acknowledged fear has been playing a big part in her staying with a job that is draining the life out of her. As she was describing her situation a quote from Carl Sandburg came to mind, “Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.”

Awakening to the New Year

Happy New Year! I love saying that. It sounds fresh, hope filled and exciting. I was reflecting on this and actually remembered a moving movie that spoke to this concept. The movie is called The Awakenings.

We’re Little Kids in Big Bodies

Two weather events prompted an attitude adjustment for me this week. Just about anywhere you are in the country today (that would be in the US), the weather has been dicey. When I went out to the car today, the door was stuck frozen, and it was in the garage! I went inside to check online to find out what to expect for the day. The day before I had been surprised by a snowstorm. (What planet had I been on that I didn’t even know it was to snow?)

Living Curiously, Meeting Cool People

Who would you enjoy sharing a meal with? I’m thinking of someone you would value learning from and hearing their perspectives? In my work, Barbara Fredrickson is on my top ten list.

We are about to enter what is normally a pretty chaotic time of year for all of us. I invite you to consider before you begin the holiday mad dash, to reflect upon what is truly important at this time of year. Decide now,

Generosity is Contagious

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Delta airlines is into supporting the research in this area in a big way. Last week, while flying, I witness the power of a generous act in a whole new and inspiring way.

How Positive Emotions Impact Your Health and Work

October 19, 2009 by Kate Larsen Leave a Comment

I’m quite excited to finally be finding a way to share with you the endless amounts of great information, research, resources I come across each day with my work. I’ll admit thinking about what to share first has been a challenge to figure out. However, an email from a client yesterday made my decision. I’ll […]
